Our trip from Calgary to Orlando for the Walt Disney Marathon weekend did not go so well. I was pretty stressed already about flying in on Thursday as it was, arriving in the evening and then racing Friday morning. Travel on Thursday wound up being almost comedic.
Unbeknownst to me my new NEXUS number somehow saved as my passport number in my online air travel profile. I couldn't check in on online and found out at the airport that I was temporarily not allowed into the country. Luckily that got sorted out pretty quickly.
There was a problem with the generator on our first flight leaving Calgary. We had to go back to the terminal to switch to the backup generator, then get in a huge line for de-icing, making us 2.5 hours late. We weren't in as rough shape as some of our fellow passengers who weren't going to make it out of Toronto that day. Despite still having time to make our connection in TO we were rebooked on the last flight of the night that arrived in at midnight. We rushed through the airport to try and get on our original flight but our suitcase had already been flagged to go on the last flight so we were out of luck. Our original flight from TO wound up being delayed 2 hours so we could have made it...but oh well.
We got our rental car in Orlando super fast but couldn't leave the airport with it as it had been flagged for maintenance. We swapped over to a new car but in the process I lost one of the wheels on my roller bag.
We popped by the front desk of our hotel to get our room keys, then drove all the way to our room. The keys didn't work so we had to drive back to the front desk, then drive back to the room. (Our hotel is huge and the front desk is nowhere near walking distance from where we are.)
Got to our room and I opened my package of what were supposed to be my miracle marathon capris and I had been sent someone else's shoes, not my capris. I still haven't received my replacement capris. They were sent the slowest on FedEx I've ever seen from Road Runner Sports and for some reason the package has been transferred to USPS? I'm not convinced they will arrive in time before we leave Florida so needless to say I'm a little unhappy with the mix up and how it was handled.
We finally crawled into bed around 2 am. That 6:30 am race start was going to be tough!
